The route takes you through a charming variety of seaside villages, from the wild Atlantic coastline towards Cape Point to False Bay with a slightly warmer Indian Ocean.

Enjoy Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where the two Oceans meet, with various interesting wild life. The route continues along the Indian Ocean with its quaint historic and harbour villages: Simon's Town, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, St James and ends in Muizenberg.

Noordhoek
Noordhoek is set on the other side of Chapman's Peak, a lovely rural village with a beautiful beach, stretched over 8 km with pristine white sand. Kommetjie
Kommetjie is a great seaside village, with a stunning beach overlooking Chapman's Peak as far as Hout Bay. Kommetjie is famous for its lighthouse, and popular with the surfers. In the heart of the village you will find various restaurants including a small convenient store. |

Scarbourough
Scarborough, the last village on the Atlantic Seaboard before Cape Point, has remained the most rural and untouched on the Peninsula, set against the hill, with steep dirt roads, naturally offering fantastic sea views and sunsets. Surrounded by nature reserves, you might find baboons on your roof! |

Simon's Town
Simons Town was the first colonial settlement on this side of the Cape Peninsula, now a historical navy village with plenty of character. The quaint waterfront has great restaurants with fantastic views over the yacht basin and pier, offering boat trips incl. whale watching. The penguin colony at boulders beach just outside the village are a MUST visit.
Fish Hoek
The pride of Fish Hoek is the bathing beach, renowned as probably the safest bathing beach in South Africa which is why it is popular with surfers and with families with children. Otherwise there is not much else to do in Fish Hoek. Being a residential and shopping place for surrounding villages, the main road traffic is heavy.
Kalk Bay & St. James
Kalk Bay is a delightful fishing village on the False Bay coast, with a protected little harbour full of brightly painted wooden boats. Kalk Bay is filled with characterful trendy restaurants and interesting shops along the railway line. Watch the waves crashing against the rocks and pier while the fishermen bring in their freshly caught fish.
Muizenberg
Muizenberg is an up and coming area, with various cosy restaurants. There are great development plans for the beach front. The Masque Theater offers various interesting shows every week. The beach is famous for the long sets of waves, ideal those who would like to learn to surf and plot along. |
