Many of our guests would like to donate to a good charity project. However, the problem usually is that the money often disappears in a big hole. Does this sound familiar?
We support our fantastic local community project called HOKISA, Home for Kids in South Africa. This project is totally devoted to assist the local community with high risen problems caused by HIV. They have established a true home for kids affected by HIV and who have no where else to go. They educate and inform the local community, they provide medicines for HIV infected people, they create awareness among the youngsters and they provide employment for HIV positive people.
Where do the donations go?
The donations go DIRECT to the children and those in need, mostly to medicine. All people working working at HOKISA are volunteers, only those employed from the local community get a salary.
How can you really help them?
The kids get a lot of clothes and toys from the local surrounding villages. They really need monthly fixed donations, which are sustainable. Large money injections are naturally welcome, but usually less effective than a small monthly amount on an ongoing bases.
Can you visit the HOKISA home?
Yes, you can, providing that you make an appointment well in advance, as the children have various routines and the home is only opened for visitors a few hours per week, to ensure as little interruptions as possible.
They also have a Dutch website (and bank account!) : www.hokisa.nl
